An IT Business Partner (ITBP), bridges the gap between Group IT and the rest of the business or organization. An ITBP serves as a strategic advisor, aligning the goals and objectives of Group IT with the overall business objectives and strategies. ITBPs promotes collaboration, innovation, and the effective use of technology to drive business success. By understanding both the IT landscape and the business's strategic objectives, ITBPs can facilitate informed decision-making and ensure that technology investments are aligned with the organization's overall goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Strategic Thinking & Alignment: Understands the business's strategic objectives, plans, and challenges, and collaborating with business leaders to identify how IT can support and enable those objectives. This includes participating in business planning sessions and providing insights on technology trends and opportunities.
  • Relationship Management: Builds and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across different business units and departments. This involves understanding their needs, concerns, and priorities, and ensuring effective communication between Group IT and the business.
  • Customer Experience: Promotes a customer-centric mindset across stakeholders – both business and IT, fostering a culture of empathy and a commitment to deliver meaningful products & services that exceed customer’s expectations.
  • Business Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains through the use of technology. ITBP works closely with business teams to understand their workflows and challenges, collaborates closely with Solution Architects and Business Analysts to propose innovative solutions or system enhancements to drive business value.
  • Agile Enablement & Adoption: Acts as an IT counterpart of business Product Owners. ITBP makes both tactical and strategic decisions regarding the product roadmap/backlog, prioritization of features, and resource maximization, based on input from stakeholders and delivery teams. ITBP advocates agility across teams – ensuring agile principles and best practices are adopted.
  • Innovation: Cultivate new ideas and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, emerging trends, and new technologies that may impact the organization’s strategy. Lead the adoption of new technologies through execution of proof-of-concepts and rapid prototyping.
  • Change Management: Facilitates the adoption of new systems and tools within the business. This involves understanding the impact of IT changes on the organization, helping manage the change process, and providing support and training to ensure successful implementation.
  • Performance Measurement: Tracks and communicates key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness and value of IT initiatives. ITBP works with business leaders to establish metrics that align with business goals and regularly reports on the performance of IT projects and services.
